PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Over all I think the SCCQ has done well this year. We
have had another Burns Supper, will be having another Kirkin and hopefully a
bit in the bank from the raffle. I know a few of us attended the ECCQ/QPS
Football tournament and were able to sell 21 raffle tickets and watch some
great football (Scotland got beaten in the semi by Japan). The key issue I would
like to raise is that I will need assistance with the raffle. I
appreciate that a lot of you have indicated you won't be at the next
meeting. The tickets and all monies will have to get to Grahame, Pam or
myself ASAP. So we can finalise this raffle on day of the Kirkin 24 June.
You may need to make arrangements to actually drop them off at our individual
homes - we can't draw the raffle if there are any outstanding tickets or monies
(you can imagine the implications of that). As you know I am off to
Admission of Clan Gunn.
I would like to formally put forward that Clan Gunn become
part of the SCCQ. Mr Geoffrey Neil Gunn has received a confirmation
letter from the Commander of Clan Gunn in the

President till Feb 2008?. As President David has taken a posting for 2
years with the Aust. Federal Police in Cairns it will be necessary for him to
step-down from his role of President although he will be back and forth to
Brisbane and will attend a meeting if in Brisbane at that time. He intends attending Kirkin’ the Tartan in
June.
He wishes the meeting to discuss how to deal with finding a
new President. He thinks there are two
options we could consider -
Option 1. He stays on as President till Feb 2008 which
is when we have our next AGM and elections anyway and perhaps Ern Thompson
fills in for him here in Brisbane - if need be and if David can't make
it.
Option 2. Or we have a formal election say at August meeting.
David’s suggestion is he stays on till Feb 08 when
we have new elections but he wants to make sure everyone is comfortable with
that.. The feedback he has got so far is members are happy with his
staying on until February 2008 however he would like the matter discussed and
recorded in the minutes.
The Meeting discussed the matter and agreed Option 1 was the
best option. However they wished to
acknowledge appreciation of the leadership and contribution David has made to
the Congress and it was MOVED BY Grahame Jardine-Vidgen SECONDED
Jan Shaw that a letter of appreciation be written to David.
